Roberta Joan "Joni" Mitchell, CC (née Anderson; born November 7, 1943) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and painter. Mitchell's work is highly respected by critics, and she has deeply influenced fellow musicians in a diverse range of genres. Rolling Stone has called her "one of the greatest songwriters ever", and AllMusic has stated, "When the dust settles, Joni Mitchell may stand as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century". Her lyrics are noted for their developed poetics, addressing social and environmental ideals alongside personal feelings of romantic longing, confusion, disillusion, and joy. Mitchell began singing in small nightclubs in Saskatchewan and Western Canada and then busking in the streets and dives of Toronto. In 1965, she moved to the United States and began touring. I know it's not actually jazz, however I still adore Joni's "For The Roses" album. A fascinating lady; an extraordinary talent.

Yes Christopher, indeed, still one of my most precious memories, albums, album art (what a cover!) I remember the very moment I bought "For The Roses", still I marvel! <3 What a talent!

Yes, that cover is quite interesting! Joni's music on that album is heavenly. I don't think it has been released on CD, but I still have an original vinyl which sounds pretty good.
Possibly like me, you went through a Laurel Canyon phase - I visited it back around '73. Some fascinating sounds emerged from that part of LA. I know it's not jazz Martin, but you might also enjoy music from another guy active in that time and place, David Crosby. His albums 'Croz' and 'Lighthouse' are simply divine.
