Pianist Brad Mehldau returns with a new trio album focusing on standards and featuring his long-time collaborators.

The iconic Brad Mehldau has long been an exponent of the piano trio, building on the legacy of names like Bud Powell and Bill Evans. Once again teaming up with long-time collaborators Larry Grenadier and Jeff Ballard, Mehldau has focused the group's attention on standards and covers - namely blues and ballads. In fact, that's the name of the album, and it's our feature album this week on ABC Jazz!

Bradford Alexander "Brad" Mehldau (/ˈmɛlˌdaʊ/; born August 23, 1970) is an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. Mehldau studied music at The New School, and toured and recorded while still a student. He was a member of saxophonist Joshua Redman's Quartet with bassist Christian McBride and drummer Brian Blade in the mid-1990s, and has led his own trio since at least 1992. His first...
