'Chinese Whispers IV' Mace Francis Orchestra

Mace Francis
Jul 15, 2011 Updated Jul 22, 2011

From Perth comes the next instalment to the Chinese Whispers project led by Mace Francis.

Perth composer and band leader Mace Francis first launched the Chinese Whispers project with Chinese Whispers I, recorded in 2005.

The concept is for composers to collaborate on one composition by each writing a small section of music and passing it on to the next composer, who continues the piece and passes it down the line.  This collaborative composition is then used as the inspiration for a new composition from each member of the group.

Composers in the Chinese Whispers IV project come from around Australia, as well as Norway (Michael Barnes).

Here's the tracklist

1. 'Chinese Whispers IV' (all composers)
2. 'Six Sided Container' (Rafael Karlen)
3. 'Woogie' (Michael Barnes)
4. 'Karesansui' (Michael Wallace)
5. 'Condenses Melk' (Tilman Robinson)
6. 'A Cara-Mellow Mapes' (Andrew Murray)
7. 'Rumour Has It' (Johannes Luebbers)
8. 'Little White Lie' (Mace Francis)

Recorded live: December 9, 2009
The Ellington Jazz Club, Perth, WA.
