'Criss Cross' Florian Weber

Florian Weber 16by9
Sep 7, 2016 Updated Sep 16, 2016

Two of jazz's most distinct piano players are the inspiration for Florian Weber's new record - this week's feature.

Himself a pianist, Germany's Florian Weber explores the music of greats Thelonious Monk and Bill Evans through the lens of both the keyboard and the Fender Rhodes. Joining him in his bass-less trio are New York stalwarts Donny McCaslin on sax and Dan Weiss on drums. The album's named after a Monk composition, rather aptly titled Criss Cross.
