Digital Radio giveaway

Mal Stanley with Digital Radio
Aug 1, 2012 Updated Feb 1, 2013

ABC Jazz is celebrating three years on air and we're giving you the opportunity to win a digital radio... The winners have been announced.

In 2009, ABC Jazz launched as the first continuous jazz radio station in Australia. At launch, we welcomed Jazztrack with Mal Stanley and Jazz Up Late with Gerry Koster - giving you more opportunities to hear these fantastic programs.  Since then, we've also welcomed Jazz Notes with Ivan Lloyd and the esteemed jazz journalist Jessica Nicholas to the airwaves. On Thursday nights you can catch a live recording, while on Friday afternoon it's time for Talking Jazz, an opportunity to hear local and international jazz musicians discussing their influences and inspirations.

Listening to ABC Jazz on digital radio offers great benefits, including on screen information on the tracks playing, clearer reception, easier tuning and great sound. Digital Radio also offers more choice. Over 1 million Australians are listening to digital radio each week.  If you want more information on ABC Digital Radio, go here.

For your opportunity to win a digital radio*, please tell us (in a short paragraph on the entry form below) what is the ONE benefit of digital radio you most look forward to experiencing, and why.  All entries will be judged on creativity.

Also, as part of the third anniversary of digital radio in Australia, on August 24 ABC Jazz will present a special one-off breakfast show with Mal Stanley and Jessica Nicholas - broadcasting live from Federation Square in Melbourne alongside 774 ABC Melbourne and many of the commercial radio breakfast shows.

* Please note: Digital radio is available in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth and entries will only be accepted from those areas. There is one digital radio per city to give away. Please read all the terms and conditions before entering.

This competition has closed.  The winning entries are:

Neil Branum (Adelaide)
I would like to be able to listen to ABC Jazz when working in the shed without having to drag the big screen tv up there.

Bruce Herford (Brisbane)
For my 'senior' moments where I believe I'm smart because I think I know the name of the tune playing on the radio. With a digital DAB+ radio, a glance at  the dispay will only confirm I'm wrong (but happy to be corrected!)

Clare Battaini (Melbourne)
So I can listen to jazz allllll the time. When the kids decide they've had enough jazz, I can take my jazz to any room of the house. One day they'll realise that I'm much happier with jazz on. I hope to instill the values of jazz in them one day, whether they know it or not.

Luke Fullagar (Sydney)
I can't look past the obvious benefits of being able to tune into ABC's radio channels at sight, from a list, rather than having to go searching in vain every time time I want to flip between channels. There's so many channels, and so many new ones. The prospect is wonderful!

Pru Jarrah (Perth)
I'd really love the great sound as I turn up the volume on my current radio to better enter the 'jazz vibe' and become absorbed in the fantastic selection of music; however my current radio can sometimes blur the clarity when cranked up!!

Digital radio is now also available in Canberra, not just the five capitals mentioned above.

Do you reckon we'll be able to wrench that Digital Radio out of Mal Stanley's grasp? He looks pretty attached to it! :-)
