Israeli trumpet player Avishai Cohen's debut for ECM Records, which is dedicated to his late father.

Showcasing a new quintet, the Israeli trumpet player Avishai Cohen pays tribute to his father on Into the Silence. Cohen wrote the tunes on this album following his father's passing, and tok inspiration from Rachmaninoff's solo piano works. In the band is Bill McHenry on tenor sax, Yonathan Avishai on piano, Eric Revis on bass and Nasheet Waits on drums.

Very uplifting and thought-provoking while promoting a sense serenity. This sublime album demonstrates that times of sadness can also be times of meaningful reflection, transformation and creativity.
The solos are as inspired as are the writing.
