Thanks for your comment Lyndsay.
It was great that ABC Jazz had the opportunity to broadcast and stream the complete concert, but the music was only licenced for streaming for a period of two weeks after the broadcast. ABC Jazz was lucky to obtain this recording from Mal Stanley and Jazztrack, and there will be many more similar broadcasts in 2010.
You might like Haden's 2005 disk 'Not In Our Name' played by the Liberation Music Orchestra. It contains many of the tracks from the concert in Melbourne.
Glad you're enjoying the music!
I just found the site after listening to Andrew Ford's wrapup for the year with the Charlie Haden Interview. What a great human being as well as an amazing performer. Would this recording be available on ABC Records at any time? I note the license expiry date above on the 2nd!
Great site and congratulations on keeping the spirit of Music to Midnight alive in so many fantastic forms. Again what would we do without our ABC!
Cheers,
Lyndsay
Glad it's up and running.... Enjoy!
OK - anyone who had the problem I had, just delete temp internet files/cookies and it now works!
Hi Andgar. It's working for me (I listened three times!). What's your internet connection? Mebbe you've got a slow connection?
Any reason I'm only getting 7 seconds of this? Missed it at the time and would love to check it out!
Yes, the track 'This Is Not America' was written by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, with Lyrics by David Bowie. It was in the 1980s film 'Falcom and the Snowman'.
Glad you liked the recording!
That was good to hear, although I didn't really appreciate the second piece (film soundtrack?).
