'Meditations on Freedom' Noah Preminger

Noah Preminger 16by9
Mar 9, 2017 Updated Mar 24, 2017

New music this week from US saxophonist Noah Preminger, featuring songs of protest and defiance.

Noah Preminger began writing and arranging for his new album following the 2016 US Presidential election - and released it on Inauguration Day. Disheartened by the way he saw his country heading, Preminger found solace in music, and drew on inspiration from artists who had used their craft to speak. He writes "at this time of disruptive and divisive change in our nation, I felt compelled to create these jazz meditations." He's joined by  a chord-less quartet, including Jason Palmer on trumpet, Kim Cass on bass and Ian Froman on drums - and together they perform originals and other politically-charged tunes by Bob Dylan, Bruce Hornsby, George Harrison and Sam Cooke.
