Renaud Garcia-Fons giveaway
On Friday June 8, the Melbourne Recital Centre is hosting the Renaud Garcia-Fons Arcoluz Trio as part of the 2012 Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
Catalonian-born Garcia-Fons took up the double bass at the age of 16 and is renowned for his inventive use of the instrument. He is not only influenced by jazz, but by classical, flamenco, French new-musette and the imanginary folklore musical styles. The trio consists of: Renaud Garcia-Fons (double bass), Kiko Ruiz (guitar) and Pascal Rollando (percussion).
Jazz Up Late with Gerry Koster has five double passes to give away. To be in the running to win the tickets, in the form below tell us if you think the double bass is preferable to electric bass in jazz and why.
The opening act for the night is the recent Bell Award winning duo Luke Howard and Janos Bruneel. They won the 2012 Bell Award for the composition 'Spir' in the category of Best Song.
The competition has closed. Winners will be announced shortly. The prize is tickets only.
