ABC ABC Jazz

ABC Jazz is offering one lucky person an opportunity to review gigs at the Stonnington Jazz Festival, with an unlimited festival pass - the ultimate Golden Ticket.  Plus, you will be able to take a guest to each show.

World renowed jazz legend saxophonist George Garzone played a few gigs in Melbourne. I caught him at Bennetts Lane. Playing with him were Paul Grabowsky, Phillip Rex and Niko Schauble.

There was a large crowd in Bennetts and it was full of anticipation. We weren't disappointed. The music came hard and fast, the musicians bounced off each other perfectly.  Garzone's ideas came out of his horn so freely. After the first set I was excited to see what the second set would bring, opening with John Coltrane's Equinox the Garzone train rolled on. A great night and I left in awe of these musicians, even though it did expose my own shortcomings as a trumpet player.
