Austrian guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel joins a host of American stalwarts for his latest album - Rising Grace.

This week's feature album is from the Austrian guitarist Wolfgang Muthspeil, who's put together a band with many different connections.  First, there's part of the Brad Mehldau Trio, with Brad on piano and Larry Grenadier on bass. Also in the band is the other half of Muthspiel's duo project 'Friendly Travelers' - drummer Brian Blade, while trumpet player Ambrose Akinmusire rounds out the quintet.

Artist Biography


Wolfgang Muthspiel (born 2 March 1965 in Judenburg, Styria) is an Austrian jazz guitarist and composer. He is the brother of the trombonist and pianist Christian Muthspiel.

He started playing the violin at six and began study of the guitar as a teenager. After studying classical and jazz guitar in Graz, he completed his studies at the New England Conservatory and the Berklee College...
