'The Girl Next Door' John Harkins

John Harkins 16by9
Feb 8, 2017 Updated Feb 15, 2017

John Harkins brings together his long-time trio for a new recording - a tribute to his wife and sister.

Born in the US, John Harkins moved to Australia in the 90s - and was quickly snapped up by a number of local players, including James Morrison. He's also a skilled band-leader in his own right, and follows up his last trio release Cognition with a new record, The Girl Next Door - dedicated to both his wife and sister. It's also a rather fitting title, with the tunes all named after women, be they covers or originals. Joining the pianist is his long-running trio, featuring Sydney stalwarts Andrew Dickeson on drums and Brendan Clarke on bass.
