'The New Cool' Bob James & Nathan East

Bob James 16by9
Jun 1, 2016 Updated Jun 10, 2016

This week, we're sampling a new duo record from two US studio heavyweights - Bob James and Nathan East.

Bob James (piano) is one of the fathers of smooth jazz - and before you make a judgement on that sub-genre, consider the fact that James' early albums became a staple for hip hop producers around the globe, with his early LPs now being highly collectable! Nathan East (bass) is also an incredibly acomplished bassist, having recorded on countless albums as a session musician. The pair already have a long and established musical relationship as members of the band Fourplay, but on this release, titled The New Cool, they've struck out on their own, largely focusing on acoustic piano and bass.
