Jun 17, 2015 Updated Jun 29, 2015

New music from a a group of young Melbourne musicians - the trad-tinged album 'The Sugarfoot Ramblers.'

The Sugarfoot Ramblers are a group of young Melbourne musicians who have studied and perform in more contemporary settings, yet also share a collective love for jazz's New Orleans roots. The outfit is made up of Travis Woods on trumpet, Daniel Berry on drums, James Macaulay on trombone, Jon Hunt on clarinet, Jono Brown on bass and Matt Hayes on banjo.

Their self-titled debut release was recorded at the late Bennetts Lane Jazz Club, and the ensemble performs everything from traditional New Orleans tunes, through to Graeme Bell compositions. There are also a number of special guest appearances from Georgie Darvidis on vocals (track 3) and John Scurry on banjo (track 10).
