The Vampires meet Lionel Loueke

The Vampires + Lionel Loueke
Apr 6, 2017 Updated May 5, 2017

This week, we're featuring Aussie-band The Vampires, who join the Beninese guitar virtuoso Lionel Loueke.

In 2016, The Vampires teamed up with the West African guitarist Lionel Loueke for an Australian tour. They also visited the studio, recording some new material specifically written with Loueke in mind. Due for release in May, we've got our hands on a copy - and it's this week's feature album on ABC Jazz. In the band is, of course, Loueke on guitar, Jeremy Rose on reeds, Nick Garbett on trumpet, Zonathan Zwartz on bass and Danny Fisher and Alex Masso sharing the drum/percussion chair.

Tracks in this feature

1. 'Endings & Beginnings Pt. I' (Rose)
2. 'Hard Love' (Rose)
3. 'Freedom Song' (Rose)
4. 'Green Green Green' (Garbett)
5. 'Bendalong' (Garbett)
6. 'Torta Salata' (Garbett)
7. 'Suck a Seed' (Rose)
