'This Narrow Isthmus' Julien Wilson

Julien Wilson 4by3
Nov 17, 2015 Updated Nov 26, 2015

Saxophonist Julien Wilson has dedicated his latest album to his drummer - the late, great Allan Browne.

Julien Wilson's latest release is a live recording, tracked at the Sound Lounge in Sydney, with Barney McAll on piano, Jonathan Zwartz on bass and Allan Browne on drums. It was recorded exactly a year before Browne's sudden passing in June, 2015.

At the time, the drummer had received the news that he shouldn't fly, due to stress on his heart. However, rather than miss the gig, Browne drove from Melbourne to Sydney to play. Wilson remarks in the liner notes: "We dedicate the album to Al and his indomitable spirit; the title a partner to his lifelong motto 'Hold to the now, through which all future plunges in to the past.'"
