Jazztrack with Mal Stanley

Live: 5.05pm - 7pm, Saturday & Sunday
Repeated: Tuesday & Wednesday 2pm and 9pm

'Jazztrack' is the longest-running, and the only national jazz program in Australia, now presented regularly by Mal Stanley. Many of you will know Mal's enthusiasm for jazz through the fine recordings he has made in recent years, and through his support of local talent.

You can now hear ABC Classic FM's Jazztrack on digital radio, right here at ABC Jazz.

Jazztrack will still be heard on ABC Classic FM's analogue signal at the usual time, while ABC Classic FM's digital service will offer new classical music programs during that time-slot.

On Jazztrack you can hear a whole range of jazz from traditional to contemporary...

This Week:

Saturday February 6

Saturday's Jazztrack includes offerings from Chris Barber's Jazz Band, Duke Ellington, Benny Golson, Ahmad Jamal and Nina Simone.

Also on the show will be the Kenny Clarke-Francy Boland Big band, Kyle Asche Organ Trio and Jan Lundgren Trio playing Lennon/McCartney.

Sunday February 7

On Sunday, tracks from Ran Blake and Anthony Braxton, Portico Quartet and Jason Lindner Big Band.  That's all ahead of three tracks from Barney McAll's new project Sylent Running recorded by Jazztrack at the 2009 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz.

Last Week:

Saturday January 30

Saturday's program starts with Django, first with two Reinhardt offerings recorded by The Hot Club of France, and then from a Django Reinhardt/Stephan Grapelli performance in Rome in 1949/50.

Other tracks on the show come from Graeme Bell's Australian Jazz Band, Coleman Hawkins, Kenny Burrell, Cannonball Adderley/Bill Evans and a new Julian Lee release from his 1996 solo piano recording.

Saturday January 31

On Sunday, hear music from home and abroad...

Tracks from UK bands Empirical and Troyka, French export Patrice Caratini and
New York's Jason Lindner Big Band will be intertwined with Australian
musicians Chris Young, Andrea Keller and Tony Gould/Graeme Lyall.

In the second half of the show, catch three tracks from Laia Genc and
Liaison Tonique, recorded live at the 2009 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz.
