505 keeps doors wide open
505 was established in 2004 by Kerri Glasscock and jazz bassist Cameron Undy, and as has operated as an artist-run space for jazz gigs and workshops in Sydney's Surrey Hills. But after recently gaining Council and Government support 505 has released a performance schedule of 6 nights per week, giving new opportunities to musicians and audiences.
505's February schedule includes names such as Gowk (Belgium), Julien Wilson, Dave Panichi Septet, Bernie McGann Quartet, Sidecar, Phil Slater Quartet, The Vampires and Mark Isaacs Resurgence Band to name a few.
The venue is also teaming up with well known institutions, The Jazzgroove Association and Cafe Carnivale, who will hold their weekly gigs on Tuesdays and Thursdays respectively.
505's website will be up and running soon, but in the mean-time, here are the details:
505 is located at 280 Cleveland St Surry Hills, Sydney. Gigs start at 9pm Monday-Saturday, excepting Tuesday's Jazzgroove night, which commences at 8.30pm.
