James Moody dies
The musician died on December 9, 2010 in his San Diego home, after suffering from pancreatic cancer. It is believed that Moody had recently declined treatment for the condition.
Moody was known as an advocate of Bebop, entering the scene in the mid-40s as part of Dizzy Gillespie's band. His 1949 solo on 'I'm in a Mood For Love' was later coined 'Moody's Mood For Love', with his improvisation on the tune standing up as a melody on its own right... so much so that the solo had lyrics added later by Eddie Jefferson.

Another sad loss within our great world of jazz.
Particularly love his work with Dizzy along with Gil Fuller & The Monterey Jazz Festival Orchestra.
Thanks for the joyful memories James. Bet you're already jamming it up with Diz in Jazz Heaven!
