Kurt Elling sings Coltrane and Hartman
Released on the Concord Jazz label, the album was recorded live at the 'Jazz at Lincoln Centre' complex in New York City.
Kurt Elling is supported by his regular trio, led by pianist Laurence Hobgood, and joined by tenor saxophonist Ernie Watts and a string quartet.
Elling also tackles material that appeared on Ballads, the album John Coltrane released just prior to the vocal session with Johnny Hartman.

Kurt Elling (born November 2, 1967) is an American jazz vocalist, composer, lyricist and vocalese performer. Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Rockford, Elling first became interested in music through his father, who was Kapellmeister at a Lutheran church. Growing up, Elling sang in choirs and played various musical instruments, but wasn't exposed to jazz until he attended Gustavus...
