Page added Aug 25, 2017 Updated Sep 1, 2017

Drummer John Pochee has been honoured at the recent Art Music Awards, and his fellow Aussie jazz musos pay tribute to him on this episode.

John Pochee has been awarded an APRA AMCOS Art Music Award for distinguished services to Australian music. It's the first time an Aussie jazz musician has been awarded the gong, so on Home Cooked, we're dedicating the playlist to Pochee.

Some of his friends and colleagues have written in to us with their John Pochee requests - including fellow Ten Part Invention band-mate Sandy Evans, fellow drummers Dave Goodman and Andrew Dickeson plus pianist Andrea Keller - and we'll hear those selections, as well as some other tunes featuring the revered drummer and band leader.

We've also recently uploaded an interview with Pochee, originally recorded with Sydney stalwarts Andrew Dickeson and Matt McMahon - and you can hear it below...

Well-deserved honours to a most worthy recipient. Congratulations John - our own Elvin Jones!
Love John's work alongside the late, great Bernie McGann and his power-house drumming that drove Ten Part Invention.
John Pochee only employs a small kit, yet produces a giant sound.
Christopher Lynch.
