Leading this week's Aussie jazz playlist is Sandy Evans - who's just launched a new album with her band titled 'RockPoolMirror.'

Nature has inspired Sandy Evans' latest project, titled RockPoolMirror. The Aussie saxophonist has put together a series of originals by herself and her band, with the music taking inspiration from Belinda Webster's photographs of nature. Joining Evans is Steve Elphick on bass, Satsuki Odamura on koto and bass koto, Alon Ilsar on airsticks and drums, Adrian Sheriff on bass trombone and Bobby Singh on tabla.

Sandy Evans is an award-winning Australian jazz composer, saxophonist, and teacher active from 1982. In the 1980s Evans played in the group Women and Children First. Later she was a member of the Sydney band Ten Part Invention. Evans composed the music for the 1999 radio drama Testimony: The Legend of Charlie Parker, which showcased the poetry of Yusef Komunyakaa, and was broadcast on ABC's...

Sandy Evans and her friends launched the new album 'RockPoolMirror' last Saturday
at the SIMA Soundlounge in Sydney. It was a truly special live event.
Belinda Webster's photographs are stunning and the music inspired by the photographs is amazing.
