Join us on Home Cooked this week as we dip into the ABC's vinyl collection - and the debut recording from Sydney band 'The Umbrellas.'

Playlist Information

A playlist and listen-again audio are available for 1 month by clicking the play button above after the broadcast.

The Umbrellas are led by pianist and composer Peter Dasent (pictured), and recently celebrated 30 years back in 2015 since their debut in 1985. We're going to hear that recording on LP on this episode - tracked in front of a live audience in Sydney during the mid-80s. This self-titled release fuses jazz with elements of chamber music, and joining Dasent in the band is Mark Simmonds on tenor sax, Jonathan Zwartz on bass, Douglas Eyre on bassoon, John Armstrong on oboe and Andrew Wilkie on marimba and vibes.
