Ted Vining 4by3
Page added Sep 1, 2017 Updated Sep 11, 2017

Tassie-based drummer Ted Vining recently celebrated his 80th Birthday and to mark the occasion, we're spinning an old LP featuring his trio.

Playlist Information

A playlist and listen-again audio are available for 1 month by clicking the play button above after the broadcast.

Beginning in 1969, the original Ted Vining trio included Bob Sedergreen on piano and Barry Buckley on bass. As well as being a renowned outfit in their own right, the group was also a highly sought after Melbourne rhythm section - performing with the likes of saxophonist Brian Brown. Although their first studio album was released in 1977, we've dug out a rare recording from 1972 that was only ever released on a vinyl compliation called Australian Jazz in the 70s (Vol. 3) to mark Ted's 80th.

Good on you Ted and happiest of birthdays.
Hope like the unstoppable Roy Haynes, you're still playing for another decade or more!
