Darius Jones
Page added Jun 1, 2012 Updated Jun 8, 2012

Featured on Jazz Up Late is the new and third installment of what American saxophonist Darius Jones calls the sonic tone poem of his life.

The Book Of Mae'bul - Another Kind Of Sunrise is the third album in Darius Jones' autobiographical series and his first as a quartet leader with Matt Mitchell, Trevor Dunn and Ches Smith.

Also featured is the Norwegian band Motif which is soon to perform in Australia, and the new album from the duo of Indian-born vocal artist Christine Correa and pianist Ran Blake, Down Here Below in memory of the late Abbey Lincoln.

Abdullah Ibrahim, Henry Threadgill, Steve Lacy and the duo of percussionist Gregg Bendian and guitarist Nels Cline are also the playlist.

And, there are selections from a previously un-issued live recording by the celebrated English saxophonist Mike Osborne and his trio with bassist Harry Miller and drummer Tony Levin from the 1976 Birmingham Jazz Festival.
