Pianist Jason Moran’s The Bandwagon is his decade-long collaboration with bassist Tarus Mateen and drummer Nasheet Waits – widely acclaimed as one of the most strikingly unique groups performing today – and this week we feature their exciting and quite diverse set recorded by ABC Classic FM at the MIJF 2011.
 
Plus selections from the new CD by the Kris Wanders-Mani Neumeier Quintet Taken By Surprise, with the Dutch saxophonist and legendary Krautrock drummer accompanied by saxophonist Brett Evans, guitarist Yosuke Akai and double-bassist Rory Brown; and the latest album by The Necks, Mindset.

Jason Moran (born January 21, 1975) is a jazz pianist and composer. He is musical adviser for jazz at the Kennedy Center. Moran debuted as a band leader with the 1999 album Soundtrack to Human Motion.
