La Societe des Antipodes is a Franco-Australian collaboration and essentially a condensed version of French bass clarinetist Denis Colin’s ensemble, La Societe des Arpenteurs (The Society of Surveyors) – which performs an eclectic amalgam of jazz-world-funk-blues styles. The Antipodean contingent of La Société assembled for the 2011 WJF and recorded by ABC Classic FM, features Colin in tandem with our own Adam Simmons (saxophones), and keyboardist Benjamin Moussay and percussionist Chander Sardjoe.
Also featured is a selection from Keith Jarrett’s weighty acclaimed musical tome, Sun Bear Concerts - a collection of solo concert recordings made whilst touring Japan in 1976.
