One of our highlights this week is the celebrated American quartet led by saxophonist and clarinetist John Carter and trumpeter Bobby Bradford, known as the New Art Jazz Ensemble. It was the antithesis of 'West Coast Cool' and one of the few free-form jazz groups in '60s Los Angeles.
Other stars include Ralph Peterson Junior and the Fo'tet, Hugh Ragin, the John Abercrombie Quartet and the Andy Sugg Group.
Plus, jazz fused with the music of the South African townships with The Dedication Orchestra and Chris McGregor's newly reissued and expanded solo album In His Good Time.
