In 1988 trumpeter, composer, poet, visual artist and educator Dennis Gonzalez convened an all-star studio gathering of musicians hailing from Dallas, Texas (where he resides), New Orleans and Jackson, Mississippi. He called his group the tongue-twisting, New Dallasorleanssippi . The resulting recording, Debenge-Debenge has become regarded as one of the trumpeter's finest and features the all too-rarely heard saxophonist Charles Brackeen.
