Owen McKern presents this episode of Jazz Up Late, with 3 new duo recordings: from Nock/Pike, Simmons/O'Dwyer and Spence/MacDonald...

Featured in the program will be new collaborative albums from Mike Nock with Lawrenz Pike, Adam Simmons with Brian O’Dwyer, and Alister Spence with Raymond MacDonald.  We’ll also investigate the new Jamie Oehlers disc featuring drummer Ari Hoenig and hear a curious mix of jazz and minimalism from 'Tim Willis and The End'.

On top of all of this there’s an epic piece of free improvisation from 'Planetary Unknown' and new music from 'Atlas Trio'.

Michael Anthony Nock, ONZM (born 27 September 1940 in Christchurch, New Zealand), is a jazz pianist, currently based in Australia. Nock began studying piano at 11. He attended Nelson College for one term in 1955. By the age of 18, he was performing in Australia. He headed a trio that toured England in 1961 and then attended Berklee College of Music.
