Jazz Up Late:

Unexpected Music

Andrea Keller
Page added Sep 26, 2012 Updated Oct 5, 2012

Owen McKern presents Jazz Up Late this week, with the focus on some music, and musicians, you might not expect to hear in a jazz program.

The program will include a re-interpretation of the music of Henry Purcell for double bass and voice; a strong flamenco influence in the music of Christopher Hale; classical recorder virtuoso Genevieve Lacey collaborating with Joe Talia and Andrea Keller (pictured); and a sparse jazz cover of American singer/songwriter Jimmy Webb – all in a very ‘Jazz Up Late’ kind of way.

It’s also been a busy month for new releases and we’ll hear some new material from a Jazz Up Late favourite in Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin Project alongside the debut album for Melbourne ensemble Lo-Res.
