Always one to push the boundaries, Robert Glasper once again draws on his wealth of knowledge as both a jazz artist and a hip hop affiliate on ArtScience. Continuing the trend first established on albums Black Radio and Black Radio 2, the Robert Glasper Experiment fuse elements of jazz, hip hop, R&B and neo soul. However, in a departure from the previous releases, the band keep vocals in-house, with both Glasper and Casey Benjamin doubling as singers. Of course, rounding out the ensemble is bassist Derrick Hodge and drummer Mark Colenburg.
Also featured is a new Jazztrack studio recording by the Tasmanian bassist Nick Haywood and his trio, plus music out of Western Australia with Simon Jeans' Spirograph.
