Playlist Information

A playlist and listen-again audio are available for 1 month by clicking the play button above after the broadcast.

Virus are a 'traditional contemporary' band, formed by Chris Tanner in 2000. After Chris moved overseas, the band continued under saxophonist Julien Wilson (pic) and former Red Onions member John Scurry on guitar. They pay tribute to the late Allan Browne, performing at his memorial concert earlier in 2016, and recorded for Jazztrack. Joining them is another Red Onions member Brett Iggulden, plus Howard Cairns and Lynn Wallis.

Also featured on this episode is more from the Jazztrack 40th Anniversary 3CD set, new music from Sydney trombonist Dan Barnett and his big band, plus a recent recording from Warren Wolf.

Hi Pierre,

We believe it was 'While you Sleep' by Chris Cheek of the album Saturday Songs. It was the last track Mal played during this show.

Here's some more info: http://www.jazztrail.net/blog/2016/7/27/chris-cheek-saturday-songs

Thanks for listening!

Hi Mal,

I would love to share a track I heard late last saturday that featured tuned percussion, vibe/xylophone/pedal steel /& brass with a pedal-steel player for the unusual context for steel but I can't find the track . . ? Regards, pierre
