Page added Dec 1, 2016 Updated Dec 9, 2016

Mal revisits a new Miles Davis re-issue, which features remasters and previously unheard studio outtakes from the legendary 1960s quintet.

Playlist Information

A playlist and listen-again audio are available for 1 month by clicking the play button above after the broadcast.

A new Miles Davis re-issue called Freedom Jazz Dance celebrates the 50th anniversary of Miles Smiles, his 1966 studio album with the so-called 'second great quintet' of Wayne Shorter (sax), Herbie Hancock (piano), Ron Carter (bass) and Tony Williams (drums). In the set are unreleased studio outtakes from the original sessions of Miles Smiles, as well as from Nefertiti (1967) and Water Babies (rec. 1967) - and we'll sample some of them on this episode.

Also coming up, hear music from guitarist Julian Lage and his trio of Scott Colley (bass) and Kenny Wollesen (drums) - recorded live in Los Angeles back in April, 2016.

Hi Stu, the playlists are now hosted on the ABC Radio Player, along with the listen again audio for that episode - and will appear after the episode has been broadcast.

The best way to find that is to click the play button on the episode image, which will re-direct you to the Radio Player (here's the link - https://radio.abc.net.au/programitem/pe9Q2wRxmL?play=true). I think the track you're talking about was 'Cross Purposes' by the band Antboy (feat. drummer Will Guthrie) from the new Jazztrack 40th Anniversary set - http://abcjazz.net.au/features/jazztrack-since-1976

Hope that helps, and thanks for listening.

Hi, I was wondering how to view the playlist for this episode? There was a track that started about the 95 minute mark I was curious about?
