From Wangaratta

Gwilym Simcock
Page added Dec 20, 2012 Updated Jan 25, 2013

On Jazztrack... More live music from the recent Wangaratta Festival of Jazz with Welsh-born pianist Gwilym Simcock... plus more.

Also on the show... trombonist Dave Panichi, who returned to Australia in 2000 after spending many years in New York working with a host of bands and musicians. Hear a new studio recording with his fine big band from our Sydney Jazztrack studios.

Joe Locke and Geoffrey Keezer co-lead a new recording and you'll hear a fine reworking of Naima plus Coltrane himself with an alternate version of 'Giant Steps' with Cedar Walton on piano.

And to finish Mal's last Jazztrack for 2012 a piece he always plays to round off the year in a small concession to the event happening shortly involving lots of red and white.

What's this about red & white? An order from Ally Moore to celebrate the Sydney Swans' premiership on air?
