Page added Jan 9, 2015 Updated Jan 14, 2015

Boogie, blues, ragtime, bebop, big band - some old school as well as some new and recent releases on the show, presented by Gerry Koster.

Saxophonist and clarinetist Anat Cohen takes an Ellingtonian approach to Dr. Lonnie Smith’s And The World Weeps with guests, trombonist Wycliffe Gordon and fellow clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera on her latest album 'Clarascuro'...

Then there’s boogie with Henry Butler and Steven Bernstein's Hot 9, ragtime with Dick Wellstood playing Dizzy Gillespie’s Groovin’ High (!?), and swing with trumpeter Joe Newman and his quintet live at Count Basie’s club and the Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band live in Santa Monica in 1960.

Other highlights include Sydney pianist Bobby Gebert’s first recording at age 18, fellow pianist Michael Garrick’s Home Stretch Blues with an all-star British cast featuring a young Norma Winstone and a recent ABC studio recording with trombonist Shannon Barnett.

And, there are new releases from England by pianist Andrew McCormack and saxophonist Tim Garland – and we’ll hear again from the debut recording by the James Mustafa Jazz Orchestra from Melbourne.
