The great Art Tatum leads this show, as we take a look back at some of the pianist's solo work as well as his sextet with Lionel Hampton.

Art Tatum is considered one of the most virtuosic jazz pianists of all time, and we'll hear him performing both solo and with his band of Lionel Hampton, Buddy Rich, Harry Edison, Red Callender and Barney Kessel.

Mal also pays tribute to the late jazz vocalist Mark Murphy, with a Jazztrack recording from 2004, taken from his Melbourne Jazz Festival performance.

Tatum is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time, and was a major influence on later generations of jazz pianists.
