As per tradition, Mal Stanley presented the National Jazz Awards on Jazztrack, live from the 2016 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz.

It was the year of the sax at the 2016 National Jazz Awards. Mike Rivett took out first place on the last night of the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, with Troy Roberts second and Jeremy Rose third. Mike will take home $12,000, plus a Jazztrack recording. Second place received $6,000 plus a recording at Pughouse Studio, and third place recieved $3000.

Mal Stanley broadcast the finals live from the WPAC Theatre, and you can listen back to the full episode right here. We also live-streamed the event on Facebook, which you can watch below.

The judging panel in 2016 was chaired by Jamie Oehlers, with Melissa Aldana and Barney McAll. The winning saxophonist will be awarded $12,000 plus a Jazztrack studio recording session.
