Influential label 'Verve Records' is featured in this show, as we trace some of the early examples of what has became known as ‘acid jazz’.

Also on the program: Owen McKern looks back at some very early grooves from Milt Jackson, Wes Montgomery, Cal Tjader, Jimmy Smith, Wayne Shorter, John McLaughlin.

New music this week comes from John Abercrombie and Melbourne bassist Howard Cairns, and we’ll even hear some poetry from iconic drummer Allan Browne.
