2014 Wangaratta Jazz 27 Enrico Rava Quintet
Page added Feb 10, 2015 Updated Feb 19, 2015

Mal brings us a Jazztrack recording with Enrico Rava and Niko Schauble's 'Papa Carlo,' captured at the 2014 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz.

20 years ago, drummer Niko Schauble first enlisted the help of the Italian trumpet legend Enrico Rava to record their 1995 album Night Music. Rava recently made his first tour to Australia in 2014 and for the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, he reunited with the group for a live set, which we will hear from on this episode.

We also delve into the world of Coltrane with a live recording from 1966 at Temple University. Trane performs one of his classic compositions, titled 'Naima.' The album Offering was released in September 2014, and proceeds from the sales go towards The John Coltrane Home, which in 2007 was added to the US National Register of Historic Places.

Recent releases on the show include an album from The Microscopic Septet titled Manhattan Moonrise, as well as one from Ted Vining and Blow titled Presence.

I was quite stunned to hear Mo'Blow at ABC Jazz. Well, I had the chance to interview Felix Falk and Matti Klein just before the upcoming Jazzdays at Emsdetten a town close to the university city Münster. From time to time I follow your program depening of my spare time. Get stuff I heard so far. Greetings from Germany. ferdinand
