We revisit a classic album on this episode, with one of Miles Davis' rare appearances as a sideman for saxophonist Cannonball Adderley.

We dip into the Cannonball Adderley classic Somethin' Else on this episode. Recorded in 1958 for his Blue Note Records debut, the album features the alto saxophonist alongside Miles Davis on trumpet, as well as Hank Jones (piano), Sam Jones (bass) and Art Blakey (drums).

Also on the show, the meeting of Kenny Burrell and John Coltrane, captured in 1963. Plus the late Scottish-born saxophonist Bobby Wellins is remembered. He passed away in late October.

Julian Edwin "Cannonball" Adderley (September 15, 1928 - August 8, 1975) was a jazz alto saxophonist of the hard bop era of the 1950s and 1960s. Adderley is remembered for his 1966 single "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy", a crossover hit on the pop charts, and for his work with trumpeter Miles Davis, including on the epochal album Kind of Blue (1959). Having said in my previous reply re the second last track details on the radio player site..might be a holiday gremlin as I'm not sure they are displaying..but I think the track is that Paul Motian trio playing a Bill Evans tune..from the album 'Bill Evans' on JMT records..a great album// (Paul Motian/Joe Lovano/Bill Frisell)..
When I get back in the office after hols I'll check..

If you go to the listen again button on that show (Dec 24) it will take you to the ABC Radio Player..and when you click on play the music details will come up..
