The Slipdixies 4by3
Page added Feb 17, 2017 Updated Feb 24, 2017

Catch a new recording from Melbourne-based outfit The Slipdixies called 'Red Hot Mama,' celebrating traditional jazz from the 1920s.

Playlist Information

A playlist and listen-again audio are available for 1 month by clicking the play button above after the broadcast.

The Slipdixies are Dario Ogrin (reeds), Jamie Barling (trumpet), Alastair Carr (banjo), Susy Blue (washboard/vocals) and Mark Zerafa (tuba); and together, they rework old classics first heard in 1920s New Orleans.

Also featured on the show are some retrospective recordings from the Monterey Jazz Festival, with music from Joe Williams with Count Basie, and a young Wynton Marsalis. Plus - we continue our showcase of early jazz recordings, as Jazztrack celebrates 100 years of jazz on record.
