Perth drummer Ben Vanderwal isn't usually associated with chill-out music, but his trio project offers respite from a sometimes noisy world.

The jazz-folk-country trio 'My Name Is Nobody' unites Ben Vanderwal with fellow Perth musos Tom O'Halloran and Lucky Oceans alongside a host of special guests - and we'll dip into their debut recording on this week's show, along with recent releases from James Muller (with the Sydney Con Jazz Orchestra) and the Hieronymus Trio with Gian Slater. Plus new music from Stones drummer Charlie Watts in big-band jazz mode, and Poland's NAK Trio recorded at the 2017 Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

Ben is one of the most in demand Jazz drummers in Australia. From an early age he encountered the legendary drummer/teacher Frank Gibson Jnr, who helped unravelled the mysteries of that strange, fascinating music in of all places, Perth.
