Several international artists are touring Australia in February and March and Jessica Nicholas previews some of their music on this episode.

Hitting Australian shores are New Orleans band Tuba Skinny, Scandinavian/UK outfit Phronesis and Tunisian oud player and vocalist Dhafer Youssef. 

Plus there’s new music by Joseph Tawadros (whose latest album was recorded in New York with a host of luminaries), Brisbane trio Trichotomy and Melbourne saxophonist Paul Van Ross.

Tuba Skinny is a band formed in 2009 in New Orleans. Tuba Skinny consists of tuba, trombone, cornet, tenor banjo/guitar, vocals, washboard, and sometimes clarinet, and is inspired by the early jazz and blues music of the 1920s and 1930s. The band has performed on streets and stages around the world.
