Divergence Jazz Orchestra live

Divergence Jazz Orchestra
Page added Oct 29, 2014 Updated Nov 7, 2014

On Thursday Night Live, we hear the 'Divergence Jazz Orchestra', led by Jenna Cave, and recorded live by the ABC in Sydney.

Jenna Cave and Paul Weber are the creative duo behind the Divergence Jazz Orchestra, a leading Aussie big band focused on performing new Australian music. Cave herself writes for the band, and they also play works by other leading Australian composers, including Rafael Karlen, Judy Baily, Brendan Champion and Cam McAllister. ABC Jazz captured their recent performance at Foundry 616, and we're featuring their set on this episode as part of Ausmusic Month (November 2014).

The band was joined by the Brisbane-based composer and saxophonist Rafael Karlen, who contributed one of his works, as did Cave, Champion and McAllister.
