Page added Jul 27, 2016 Updated Apr 24, 2017

We revisit a performance from the 2015 Wangaratta Jazz Festival, featuring bassist Linda Oh and her quartet of US and Australian musicians.

Playlist Information

A playlist and listen-again audio are available for 1 month by clicking the play button above after the broadcast.

Bassist Linda Oh - who was born in Malaysia, raised in Perth and is now a rising star on the New York scene - joined festival headliner Dave Douglas at Wang, 2015. She's been touring and recording with the American trumpet player for a while now, and whilst down under, she performed a sideshow, presenting some of her own music with a quartet. The band includes US musicians Jon Irabagon on sax, Rudy Royston on drums and our very own James Muller on guitar. All the tracks in this recording are originals by Linda.

What a superbly creative, technically thrilling bassist. (Have just finished listening to her band's enthralling presentation.) Linda Oh really listens to, engages with, and inspires the musicians surrounding her. Wow!
