Hi Padston,
Great to hear your connection with Graeme Bell... We hope some others jump in with info on the Duesseldorf concert. Here's a link with some information: http://www.allmusic.com/album/in-concert-mw0001888688
Hi Christopher, we couldn't locate the exact track at the time you mentioned (what time-zone were you listening from?), but our guess is that it was a cover of 'Desperados Under the Eaves' by Madeleine Peyroux.
Could this be the one?
Hi Kay, doesn't look like there is a commercial release. But you could stay tuned on Bill's website.
In the meantime, you can hear the performance again (from the page) for a few weeks after the broadcast.
Thanks for listening,
ABC Jazz.
Hi there, you can catch Jessica Nicholas' show at 2pm on Thursdays and 12pm on Sundays. No digital radio on the Gold Coast, so you could tune-in online at abc.net.au/jazz, or perhaps on Digital TV..?
Hi there... This episode from Jessica Nicholas was first broadcast on June 7, 2012, so we don't have the license to offer the show again online.
But you can hear some of Gwilym Simcock's live performance at Wangaratta 2012 on the upcoming episode of Thursday Night Live (March 21, 2013 at 9pm)... also for 4 weeks after the broadcast at this page:
Hello, there are 2 possibilities of what track was heard (in Brisbane) at around 14:40 on March 5, 2013.
If it was an up-tempo track is was:
'More Sympathy for the Drummer' by Zwingberger/Waters/Watts/Green,

'I Fall in Love Too Easily' by Luciana Souza
from the album 'The Book of Chet' (Sunnyside ssc 1316)
Thanks for your comments... We're glad that you enjoyed some of these features!
Unfortunately the second Trio M performance (with guests) wasn't recorded at Wangaratta 2012. But you can hear some discussion about that concert in this feature, a discussion panel held at Wangaratta, featuring Matt Wilson. http://abcjazz.net.au/programs/talking-jazz/in-conversation-at-wangaratta
Hi there, we hope there wasn't a problem on your browser, as there is streaming audio available (above) - for 1 month after broadcast.
We hope it works on a second try. Thanks for the comment,
ABC Jazz.
Hi Harry - well spotted...!
We've alerted our friends at The Sydney Opera House Project about this and they're looking to amend it.
Thanks for pointing this out. All the best,
ABC Jazz.
Hi Mark, yes it may be hard to find, but perhaps you could send Christine an email through her website...? We would have ingested this music a while ago now, so we can't be sure if/where the album is currently on sale.
Sorry, but we cannot offer these shows for downloading, due to musical rights. We're not sure why you have squeeks in your player, it doesn't seem to be coming from our side.
Thanks for tuning in! The ABC Jazz team.
Hi there, unfortunately the licencing agreement for audio streaming of this feature has expired. But please have a listen to this fantastic interview with Josh Roseman on Gerry Koster's 'My Favourite Things' program. This was also recorded at the 2011 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz: http://abcjazz.net.au/programs/talking-jazz/my-favourite-things-josh-ros...
Hi Nick - yes this conversation went really well in Wangaratta and will definitely be broadcast at a future date on ABC Jazz... Stay tuned for the date and thanks for listening,
ABC Jazz.
Hello, thanks for the question about Theo Bleckmann's 'Hello Earth' disc...
We can't really point you to places to purchase the album, but we did a quick search online and found some options to either order a physical disc or a downloaded copy.
Good luck tracking it down and thanks for listening...!
Hi there... the 'smooth French singer' played in Jazztrack was Cyrille Aimee, a French singer, now living in Brooklyn. She will be heading to Australia November, so you may catch a gig...?
The track we heard on Jazztrack was:
'Django Mort' from the album 'Junction' by the band; Hot Club of Detroit.
Hi Neville, yes the playlist has now been added to the page above - it takes a little while before the site updates after each program.
Thanks for listening and talk soon,
The ABC Jazz team.
Hi Jeremy, we couldn't really point you in the direction of commercial availability, but we did a quick search and it's definitely available through online retailers...
Good luck tracking it down,
ABC Jazz.
Hi all, thanks for listening...!

However, we can offer it as 'streaming audio' (after broadcast) from this page.
Hope that helps,
ABC Jazz.
Hi Andrew - the playlist is now online (above) and you can hear the show again on this page as well (for 4 weeks).

ABC Jazz.
Hi Tsim, we’ve tracked down the piece you heard on ABC Jazz at 6pm on Sunday 12th on Mal Stanley’s Jazztrack.
It was the track: Antilope Arabesque
From the album: Celestial Circle (ECM records 2228)
By Marilyn Mazur
But it’s quite likely that the singer on the track you heard was: Josefine Cronholm
Hi Gem - tune in on Thursday, Feb 2 at 9pm...!
There'll also be listen-again streaming audio from this page after the broadcast too.... If you miss it live on-air.
Enjoy.
Hi David,
Please send your CD to: Ivan Lloyd - Jazz Notes - ABC Radio - GPO Box 9994, Adelaide SA 5001. If you can, please also send a copy to ABC Jazz in Sydney (GPO Box 9994, Sydney NSW 2001).
Regards
ABC Jazz
Thanks James... Good news, if you missed any of this month's Miles Davis features, you can hear some again as streaming audio online: http://abcjazz.net.au/tag/celebrating-miles
Hi Adrian, unfortunately the music licensing has expired on this recording and ABC Jazz is no longer able to offer the music as streaming audio.
Best of luck finding more Christopher Hale music,
ABC Jazz.
Hi there, unfortunately we can't offer downloads of recorded material due to licensing agreements with the artists. ABC broadcasts are offered as streaming media for up to 1 month online.
Thanks for listening and for your comments.
ABC Jazz.
Hi Christopher, we found out that Sonny had an 'In Conversation' at the Forum Upstairs on Tuesday, June 7. But we've been told by the Melbourne International Jazz Festival that it wasn't able to be recorded...
Oh well... thanks again for your comments,
ABC Jazz.
Hi Christopher, we had a look for 'Country Roads and Other Place' as well and also came up short. So no leads on how to buy the album from ABC Jazz.
All the best trying to locate it..!
Hi Alan,
The feature is working at this end in Safari and Firefox...it's playing through to the end of the broadcast.
We'll keep looking into it but perhaps you could try refreshing your browser's cache..?
Good luck.
Thanks all for the comments...! We were very excited about this feature.
The audio can't be offered as streaming (from 24.3.11) due to licensing arrangements. But it's a widely available release and an important part of Jazz history...!
Talk soon,
ABC Jazz.
Thanks Neill,
After the broadcast on Thursday night we will offer the feature as streaming audio on demand. This is in keeping with the licensing agreements made with the artists at the time of the recording.
Thanks for your question, we hope you enjoy the music...!
Hi Kate - James Sherlock was quite likely playing a duet with vocalist Kristin Berardi, from their album 'If You Were There'.
Check them out, they often appear on gigs around the country and have just been included on the 2011 Melbourne International Jazz Festival line-up, kicking off in June.
Good luck searching...
Hi Jules, We're not aware of a commercial release of this performance. So you could head to the artist's Myspace page (link above) for more info and contact details.
Regards, the ABC Jazz team.
Hi there - yes this recording will be available online for a few weeks after broadcast. Be sure to check for what's on our upcoming Thursday night live broadcasts... you can sign up to the weekly newsletter, which will have all the details here:
Hi Vicki... While not particularly 'jazz' Faust were/are quite innovative and probably pretty hard to catagorise. Still, it's an interesting inclusion in this broad line up for the festival, which is sure to spark some conversation...
Glad you like the recording... It's a very recent release so it may take a week or so to become widely available. The CD is released through Disney Pearl Series (8713404). Good luck with the hunt...
Thanks Mel - yes, the tour does seem to be postponed for now, with new shows planned for August 2011. We will keep you updated when new dates become available.
ABC Jazz.
Hi Patrick - unfortunately, we're not able to add these interviews to the website. But if you subscribe to our newsletter, you may get some more warning of these broadcasts. http://abcjazz.net.au/newsletter
Thanks for your comments... we're glad you're enjoying ABC Jazz.
Hi Peter - we're always happy to get a review on the site...!
Some of us were also in the Sydney audience (although up in the rafters). But the sound was pretty reasonable from up the back, where there was less sense of the acoustic space and more direct sound from the PA stacks positioned in the rear third of the room. So we were getting mostly electric sound... which wasn't too bad.
It seems like an ongoing discussion about the rooms which will attract mainstream audiences in Australia and what acoustic properties those rooms possess...
But we all agree, the music was great and it was fantastic to see this RTF line-up in Aus...
Hi Ubop. The promoter, Michael Coppel Presents has this statement on their Facebook page:
The fiery-fingered Australian guitarist Frank Gambale, a veteran of the Chick Corea Elektric band of the ‘80s and ‘90s, will take the place of Bill Connors throughout the Australia - New Zealand tour, the group saying:
“Bill Connors has a medical situation that will not allow his traveling to Australia at this time. We all wish him a speedy and full recovery."
Thanks for your comment. The Biography section is automatically generated from Wikipedia content for the specific 'artist', which in this case is the Stan Getz Quartet not Stan Getz. Wikipedia has no entry for the Quartet, but we have manually offered a related link via the Links part of the page.
Hi there - thanks for the comments.
At this point the broadcast is no longer available as streaming on the website due to licensing arrangements with the musicians.
Thanks for the interest in this feature...! While you're here, please check out some of the other features on the ABC Jazz website....
Hi all, we have now posted the 3 performances from the finals, with introductions from the players. This will be available until 2 weeks after broadcast (November 14).
Thanks for your contributions and we hope you continue to enjoy ABC Jazz.
Thanks Christopher, glad you dig Serge and the videos too. All non-ABC videos are automatically sourced from YouTube, so we're also glad to see them...!
Appreciate the comments - keep enjoying!
ABC Jazz.
Hi all, appreciate some healthy discussion.... awards season always seems to attract some lively posts.
We have just uploaded interviews with Mike and Roddy on this page, so check them out...!
Congratulations again to the three finalists - it was great to hear your playing and compositions.
Thanks for the comments Daniel.... glad you're listening (and playing). Keep in touch and let us know what you think about some of the other features.
Regards, the ABC Jazz team.
Thanks for the comments.
Yes it was a great sounding performance. The audience seemed to love it too...!
Thanks for listening and we're glad you're enjoying these features.
Hi Andrew. Yes the remastered version has now been released on Verve. This edition includes tracks left off the original LP.
The CD number is: B0003934-02
Good luck and thanks for listening!
Hi Stephen, thanks for your observation.
Yes ABC Jazz does play early jazz styles. Just looking through the 'Just Played List' on this website displayed the following artists:
Duke Ellington
Benny Goodman
Artie Shaw
Ella Fitzgerald
Chick Webb
Django Reinhardt
Jelly Roll Morton
Louis Armstrong
These early styles of jazz may be less frequent in the playlist as ABC Jazz tries to incorporate a large range of recorded material, including an emphasis on Australian performers.
Thanks again for your comment, and thanks for listening!
Hi, thanks for listening!
Yes, the alto player on the recording is David Theak, who leads the Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra. Jacam is conducting the band on his own composition, 'Mirrored' during the finals of the 2009 National Big Band Composition Competition.
Here is a story on the competition: http://abcjazz.net.au/features/congratulations-andrew-murray
Hi Ben, yes the Melbourne Recital Centre's acoustics are fantastic for that style of music - made better by the carpet on the stage and the cutains in the room. Sounds like the record...!
As far as purchasing this recording, we are not aware that it is available at this time. However there is a link to Stephen Magnusson's website on this page, with more info about his music.
Good luck checking it out!
Thanks Darin!
Great to hear the feedback and glad you're liking the mix between voice and music...!
That was Marian McPartland by the way. She's a 92 yr old jazz pianist who has run a series called 'Piano Jazz' on National Public Radio in the US since 1978. What a legend...!
Cheers
Thanks Caedwa,
Correct.... you should have song titles in the 'Now Playing' box when listening to ABC Jazz from this website. This information won't be available when listening to the mp3 stream or on Digital TV, so you'll need to check the 'Just Played List' from the website.
Have you tried listening to the Windows Media or Real Player streams? These will allow you to see 'Coming Up', 'Now Playing' and 'Just Played' display. But it depends on your setup...
Hope this helps... and thanks for your comments and feedback!
Thanks to Big Budgie for adding pictures from the May 8 performance of John Hollenbeck and Theo Bleckman with The Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra at The Edge, Federation Square.
All contributions appreciated..!
Thanks again Lindsay,
Unfortunately the package can't be offered as a download as it is largely a commercial music release.
And the interview clips are also available commercially, in the Ben Sidran package, listed above.
Good luck tracking it down..!
Hi Kent,
The content on Jazztrack and Jazz Up Late contains music material, which makes a downloadable file a breach of copyright. Luckily, you can hear the program as streaming-on-demand on the ABC website. You can also catch the repeat broadcasts of Jazz programs right here on ABC Jazz:
Jazz Up Late (Friday): repeated on Mondays at 9.00pm
Jazztrack (Saturday): repeated on Tuesdays at 2.00pm and 9.00pm
Jazztrack (Sunday): repeated on Wednesday at 2.00pm and 9.00pm
We hope this gives you some alternatives for catching up on Jazztrack and Jazz Up Late.
The Survey relates to ALL of ABC Jazz. Please click on the link above (where it says 'CLICK HERE') to start the Survey, so your feedback can be included in the official results.
Hi Daniel, unfortunately we're not able to offer this interview as a download. But stay tuned each friday at 2pm for another discussion with a jazz legend.
Regards, the ABC Jazz team.
Hi Pluto... thanks for listening to ABC Jazz. We’re glad that you like the station.
Sorry you’re having difficulty with the streams. We are aware of the streaming problems experienced by some listeners and we are in the process of fixing the problem, although this might take a little time.
Meanwhile, we’ll do what we can to improve things in the short term.
Hi alanghall... Thanks for the comment. Yes Mark is quite exceptional in the solo setting! You can can catch the set again here as streaming audio-on-demand. Enjoy.
Thanks Sean - good to hear from you!
Yes we're trawling through the archives and will get as much content up as it comes to hand....
Glad you're enjoying the website!
Thanks for the review!
You can check out the MMW Sydney Recital Hall gig, which was recorded for Jazz Up Late. Hear it tonight at 10.30pm or repeated next Monday (Feb 8) at 9pm on ABC Jazz.
Thanks for your comment Lyndsay.
It was great that ABC Jazz had the opportunity to broadcast and stream the complete concert, but the music was only licenced for streaming for a period of two weeks after the broadcast. ABC Jazz was lucky to obtain this recording from Mal Stanley and Jazztrack, and there will be many more similar broadcasts in 2010.
You might like Haden's 2005 disk 'Not In Our Name' played by the Liberation Music Orchestra. It contains many of the tracks from the concert in Melbourne.
Glad you're enjoying the music!
A quick Google-search on 'Jonathon Zwartz The Sea' comes up with a number of retailers. The label the album was released with is 'Vitamin Records'.
Good luck!
Yes, the track 'This Is Not America' was written by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, with Lyrics by David Bowie. It was in the 1980s film 'Falcom and the Snowman'.
Glad you liked the recording!
Thanks for picking that up Aztex! We'll fix it right away.
Also check out our session with Mark Lau (aka Virculum) and Mike Nock in the 'Features' tab.
Cheers!
Good to see some discussion happening... Hear Mike Nock's commentary (above) for more.....
What can one say? Competitions in Jazz....
Congrats to all three finalists who brought their own distinctive voice and played well on the day.
Yes ABC Jazz will be covering the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz. Mal Stanley's Jazztrack has also given many years of live brodcasts and great coverage of the event, so be sure to check that out too!
Thanks Tom,
Not hearing it from our end, but thanks for feedback, we'll keep an ear out in the future. Make sure you haven't got another web browser open in the background that could be contributing.
Glad you're enjoying the new service!

Best of luck finding more Christopher Hale music,
ABC Jazz.
Hi Christopher, we haven't yet tracked the album down on CD, but we've put out some enquiries. Let you know if anything comes up.
Cheers.
Oh well... thanks again for your comments,
ABC Jazz.

Talk soon,
ABC Jazz.
Thanks for the comments all... it's great to hear from some drummers on ABC Jazz...
Thanks Neill,
After the broadcast on Thursday night we will offer the feature as streaming audio on demand. This is in keeping with the licensing agreements made with the artists at the time of the recording.
Thanks for your question, we hope you enjoy the music...!
Thanks for your comments Christopher and for your regular contributions. Glad you're liking it...!

Thanks all - keep the reviews coming...
Anyone else get to one of the gigs?

Hi Jennifer,
Yes, the Walsh Bay Jazz Festival is on again this year – stay tuned for more news on artists and dates in the very near future.
ABC Jazz.
Hi Davsan,
Thanks for your comment. The Biography section is automatically generated from Wikipedia content for the specific 'artist', which in this case is the Stan Getz Quartet not Stan Getz. Wikipedia has no entry for the Quartet, but we have manually offered a related link via the Links part of the page.
Our page for Stan Getz does include the available Wikipedia information.
Cheers,
ABC Jazz
Thanks Christopher... great to hear..!
Thanks for listening!
Thanks all for your comments....
Thanks Paolo - great to hear from you in Italy. Thanks for listening...!
Thanks Kris, Frank Gambale was only recently advertised in the line up (Bill Connors was first on the bill). So this is good news indeed.

Thanks Joanne...!
Nice work Henk - thanks for the comments..!
Thanks Wendy - glad you liked it!
Hi there - thanks for the comments.
At this point the broadcast is no longer available as streaming on the website due to licensing arrangements with the musicians.
Thanks for the interest in this feature...! While you're here, please check out some of the other features on the ABC Jazz website....
Thanks Peter, yes all pics were taken 'in-house' by staff from ABC Jazz.
We also had a great time and got some great content from the festival which will roll out on ABC Jazz in the coming months.
And hats-off to Mal Stanley and his team for the huge number of recordings that they collected over the weekend...!
Hi Morris - you may notice the performance times (5pm-7pm) are listed at the bottom of the page....
We're looking forward to it..!
Thanks Mark - great album!

Thanks Christina. Yes that concert of duets with Chick and Bobby McFerrin is, as you say - amazing!
Hi Andrew. Yes the remastered version has now been released on Verve. This edition includes tracks left off the original LP.
The CD number is: B0003934-02
Good luck and thanks for listening!
Thanks Simon - he's just been released on the 2010 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz program, playing duets with Kristin Berardi:
http://abcjazz.net.au/news/wangaratta-announces-2010-line-up
Hi Stephen, thanks for your observation.
Here is a story on the competition:
http://abcjazz.net.au/features/congratulations-andrew-murray
Hi Ben, yes the Melbourne Recital Centre's acoustics are fantastic for that style of music - made better by the carpet on the stage and the cutains in the room. Sounds like the record...!
Thanks Alex and Alan, glad you enjoyed the gig and thanks for spreading the word!
Thanks Alan, we were glad to be able to broadcast this performance, thanks to Jazztrack with Mal Stanley.
As far as purchasing this recording, we are not aware that it is available at this time. However there is a link to Stephen Magnusson's website on this page, with more info about his music.
Good luck checking it out!
Thanks for the comments folks!
Hi Mike,
Thanks for your feedback - glad you like the service..!
Hi Adam - sounded like a great gig in Adelaide!
Hi Andgar,
Yes we're fans of Phil Noy and Julien Wilson and will be playing lots more of their music when it comes to hand.
Thanks for your support!
Hi Kent,
The content on Jazztrack and Jazz Up Late contains music material, which makes a downloadable file a breach of copyright.
Thanks for your question about the service.
Thanks Lindsay,
The program will be available for a period of month after the broadcast date.
Glad you liked it, and thanks for the comments.
Hi John,
The Survey relates to ALL of ABC Jazz. Please click on the link above (where it says 'CLICK HERE') to start the Survey, so your feedback can be included in the official results.
Thanks Bryce and Damo, glad you liked the recording... courtesy of Jazztrack with Mal Stanley.
Thanks for the comments - we're all in agreement...!

Thanks for the review!
You can check out the MMW Sydney Recital Hall gig, which was recorded for Jazz Up Late. Hear it tonight at 10.30pm or repeated next Monday (Feb 8) at 9pm on ABC Jazz.
Yes - pretty cheeky!
Yeah - what a career!
Hi Garth, glad you like the music.
Thankfulness was composed by Mark Lau. You could most likely contact him through his website at:
http://www.marklau.org/
Probably worth doing the transcription anyway though ... and the link will remain up on our site indefinitely.
Let us know how you go!
We're jealous!
Cheers! Check out the feature Mark did with Mike Nock for ABC Jazz in the 'Features' section of this website.
Good to hear - thanks!
What a gig! Thanks Kent.
Thanks for the info Camillio!
A quick Google-search on 'Jonathon Zwartz The Sea' comes up with a number of retailers. The label the album was released with is 'Vitamin Records'.
Good luck!
Glad it's up and running.... Enjoy!
Cheers!
Thanks Teri. Well said!
Thanks 'efp'. Enjoy the site...
Hi Frank, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Ponyfish - we agree!
Good to see some discussion happening... Hear Mike Nock's commentary (above) for more.....
What can one say? Competitions in Jazz....
Congrats to all three finalists who brought their own distinctive voice and played well on the day.
Thanks Michael, great to hear!
Thanks TeddT. Glad you're liking it.
Thanks Robyn, we've made the correction.
